The Google Cloud API Inventory Scanning integration allows FireTail users to automatically discover and monitor API resources across their Google Cloud environment. By connecting FireTail with Google Cloud, you gain centralized visibility and control over your API inventory, improving security management and operational efficiency. This integration helps you stay on top of your API resources by scheduling frequent scans, ensuring all discovered APIs are automatically populated within the FireTail platform.

The integration between FireTail and Google Cloud is designed to fetch API inventory data by utilizing Google Cloud’s IAM roles and services. Once connected, FireTail scans your Google Cloud environment for API resources at a user-defined frequency. You can set up the integration manually via the Google Cloud Console or use a script executed in Google Shell.
This integration uses service accounts and workload identity federation to securely pull in API data, which is then displayed in the FireTail platform under the relevant application
To get started with the Google Cloud API Inventory integration, you will need:
- A Google Cloud project.
- A service account with specific permissions such as APIGateway Viewer, Apigee API Reader, Compute Network Viewer, and Workload Identity User.
- Workload identity pools to allow the service account to access the necessary data.You can set up the integration manually through the Google Cloud Console or by running a pre-configured script in Google Shell.
Once configured, select your desired scan frequency and associate discovered APIs with an application in FireTail.
